Een muzikaal experiment waarin culturen samenkomen: Liaoliao op de guzheng, een traditioneel Chinees snaarinstrument, en Mandah op bas spelen voor het eerst samen.
Later brengen zangeres Shashwathi Jagadish en Rutger Muller op elektronica betoverende fusies van Carnatische, Zuid-Indiase muziek en ambienttechno. Shashwathi’s zang, met expressieve Carnatische versieringen, ook wel gamaka genoemd, wordt verweven met Rutgers kosmische drones en elektro-akoestische grooves.
Culture Shock is een platform voor nieuwe interculturele muzikale samenwerkingen, mogelijk gemaakt door De Voorkamer. Het biedt artistieke en sociale ervaringen waarbij muzikanten met verschillende culturele achtergronden worden uitgenodigd om voor het eerst samen een creatief proces aan te gaan en het resultaat op het podium te presenteren. Elke maand maakt een nieuw duo zijn live-debuut.

Later, Shashwathi Jagadish on vocals and Rutger Muller on electronics bring entrancing fusions of Carnatic (South Indian) music and ambient-techno. Shashwathi’s singing, with its expressive Carnatic ornaments (gamaka), gets interwoven with Rutger’s cosmic drones and electro-acoustic grooves.
Culture Shock is a platform for new cross-cultural music collaborations, powered by De Voorkamer. It facilitates artistic and social experiences where musicians from different cultural backgrounds are invited for a process to create together for the first time and bring the outcome on stage. Every month, a fresh duo debuts their live performance.
