Echoes from the South — Film + Diner + Dialoog
Dit is de eerste editie van 'Echoes from the South' — een avond met Latijns-Amerikaans cinema, een moderatiegesprek en een gedeeld Uruguayaans diner.
We vertonen El amor duerme en la calle (Liefde slaapt op straat), een documentaire van de Uruguayaanse regisseur Guzmán García. De film volgt mensen die dakloos zijn in Montevideo en die op zoek zijn naar liefde — relaties opbouwen, voor elkaar zorgen, vasthouden aan iets echts in omstandigheden die alles moeilijker maken. Het is een film over liefde als drijvende kracht — datgene wat ons hoopvol en levend houdt, ook als al het andere onzeker is.
Na de vertoning is er een moderatiegesprek met een panel van experts op het gebied van dakloosheid, harm reduction en sociale uitsluiting in Nederland, en de getuigenis van mensen met eigen ervaringskennis. De avond sluit af met een informeel Uruguayaans diner en ruimte om de conversatie aan tafel voort te zetten.

Echoes from the South — Film + Dinner + Dialogue
This is the first edition of 'Echoes from the South' — an evening of Latin American cinema, guided conversation, and a shared Uruguayan dinner.
We screen El amor duerme en la calle (Love Sleeps in the Streets), a documentary by Uruguayan director Guzmán García. The film follows people living on the streets of Montevideo who are searching for love — building relationships, looking out for each other, trying to hold on to something real in circumstances that make everything harder. It is a film about love as a driving force — the thing that keeps us hopeful and alive, even when everything else is uncertain.
After the screening, a moderated panel discussion brings together experts on homelessness, harm reduction, and social exclusion in the Netherlands, and the testimony of people with lived experience. The evening closes with an informal Uruguayan dinner and space to continue the conversation around the table.
