Ierse sferen in ons kunstcafé! Op donderdag 5 februari strijkt een handjevol Ierse muzikanten neer om ons – met een pint Guinness in de hand – te voorzien van een avond vol traditioneel Ierse muziek. De avond wordt gehost door Fiachra Meek en kompanen, maar iedere muzikant is welkom om in te haken en mee te spelen.
Over onze host, Fiachra Meek:
Fiachra Meek is een uilleann piper, zanger en multi-instrumentalist uit Dundalk, Co. Louth. Fiachra’s meest opvallende optreden tot nu toe was met The Pogues ter gelegenheid van hun 40-jarig jubileum. Hij is een vaste waarde in Ierse dans- en muziektours zoals “The Great Irish Hooley” en “The Irish Folk Festival,” en heeft ook samengewerkt met acts als Junior Brother en The Armagh Rhymers. Fiachra, gevestigd in Amsterdam, organiseert folksessies en treedt op met verschillende groepen. Zijn favoriete en langste project is Alfi met zijn twee vrienden Alannah Thornburgh en Ryan McCauley, waar ze Ierse, Appalachiaanse en volkstradities verkennen.
ENG// On Thursday 5 February, a handful of Irish musicians will take over our cosy café to provide us with an evening full of traditional Irish music. The evening will be hosted by Fiachra Meek and companions, but any musician is welcome to join in and play along!
About our host, Fiachra Meek:
Fiachra Meek, uilleann piper, singer, and multi-instrumentalist is a versatile musician from Dundalk, Co. Louth. He’s a fixture in Irish dance and music tours like “The Great Irish Hooley” and “The Irish Folk Festival,” having also collaborated with acts like Junior Brother and The Armagh Rhymers. Based in Amsterdam, Fiachra hosts folk sessions and performs with various groups. His favorite and longest project is Alfi with his two friends Alannah Thornburgh and Ryan McCauley where they explore Irish, Appalachian, and folk traditions. Fiachra’s most notable performance to date was with The Pogues for their 40th anniversary.
