“What is the mundane? The mundane is ordinary, it’s daily, and it’s usually boring. It is heavily overlooked, but in its daily life it contains its own sense of beauty. It hosts stories, those which it witnessed and those it was witnessed in. The mundane is an object, it is a gesture, it is a scene, it is a place. It’s a conversation with a neighbour, a “hello” in the street, it is the plaza people will hang out, it is an old tool used countless times in a workshop, and it is that corner in your room where you pile your clothes at the end of a long day. It’s also that broken tile in front of your kitchen counter, the light rays during the golden hour seeping through the window, but also the shadows cast on the back wall. The mundane is endless but simple. What is the mundane to you?”

Over Het Kleinste Kamertje
Het Kleinste was formed (c.2019) by four individuals with a strong interest in analogue photography and darkroom printing. Come mid 2020, and Het Kleinste Kamertje found their base at De Nijverheid, in Utrecht. Their idea was to create a cozy space for people to develop their films and enlarge their negatives to prints. In addition to the craft of analogue photography, they were also idealizing the creation of a social environment. A community, where likeminded individuals can come and share their experiences, knowledge, and learn from each other. Essentially, find an analogue photography “gezelligheid. Since then, Het Kleinste Kamertje has built a rapport of collaborations with De Nijverheid, De Voorkamer, Rietveld School, Catharijneconvent Museum, Aliance Francais, Setup Exbunker, and other creative groups and individuals. Het Kleinste Kamertje has also hosted a series of social and educational events in the form of photowalks, screenings, workshops, and photobooths.
